You didn't mention what client you are using? I tried to produce this
error with 

    SILC-Client 1.0.2 (Irssi base: 0.8.6+ - SILC base: SILC 1.0.2)

but couldn't.

I assume that client tries to find realname from there, but it
shouldn't depend on it.
