Hello,
An alpha version of the upcoming SILC Toolkit 1.1 is now available for
testing. I am recommending all application developers to take a look at
it, and even start porting your application from Toolkit 1.0 to 1.1.
This is also the right time to give suggestions on how to make the APIs
better. As long as Toolkit is in alpha the APIs can be changed and may
change. Now is the time to give your input how to make programming easier
with SILC Toolkit.
I am not going to list all the new features that are going to be in 1.1.
There is enough time for that later. I am going to mention that primarily
Toolkit 1.1 is focused on performance, ease of use and making
multithreaded use as simple as possible.
The reference manual for the SILC Toolkit 1.1 alpha is at
http://silcnet.org/docs/toolkit-1.1/. If you are interested in starting
porting your application or just want to see what has changed, you should
read the porting manual at:
http://silcnet.org/docs/toolkit-1.1/porting.html. Note also that the
reference manual itself is not yet completed and may change during the
alpha stage.
Download it from:
http://silcnet.org/priikone/pre/
Compile it:
./configure --enable-debug
make
make install
