"Error encoding SILC public key identifier" in pidgin

: no errors in the logfiles of the server, either. but i noticed that the
: server reports the connection as having PFS, although "perfect forwarding
: secrecy" is not enabled in the pidgin options.

It may be enabled in the server.  If it is, it will be negotiated.
